How to add a SmartThings Hub in the Samsung Connect app

Adding a Hub to your Samsung Connect app will allow you to connect to SmartThings products and the many third-party devices that work with SmartThings. 

Set up a Hub

Adding a Hub will automatically create a Place (with the default name Home), which is the main launch pad for your connected Hub, devices, and Modes. 

In the Samsung Connect app: 

  1.  From the home screen, tap the plus icon in the bottom right
  2. Tap Add Device Manually
  3. Tap Hubs
  4. Select the Samsung SmartThings Hub
  5. Agree to the SmartThings Privacy Policy and tap Next
  6. Follow the in-app instructions to connect your Hub, which are reproduced here:
    1. Connect your Hub using the included power and network cables.
    2. Don't unplug the Hub during the setup process. Setup will take 5-10 minutes to complete.
  7. Tap Next
  8. Enter the 6-character Welcome code that was packaged with the Hub
  9. Tap Next
  10. When the Hub is successfully added, tap Done

 

Add a Hub to an existing Place

In the Samsung Connect app: 

  1. From the home screen, tap My Devices
  2. Swipe to the side to view the Place
  3. Tap Supported Device List
  4. Tap Hubs
  5. Select the Samsung SmartThings Hub 
  6. Agree to the SmartThings Privacy Policy
  7. Follow the in-app instructions to connect your Hub, which are reproduced here:
    1. Connect your Hub using the included power and network cables.
    2. Don't unplug the Hub during the setup process. Setup will take 5-10 minutes to complete.
  8. Tap Next
  9. Enter the 6-character Welcome code that was packaged with the Hub
  10. Tap Next
  11. When the Hub is successfully added, tap Done

View a Hub

  1. Tap My Devices
  2. Tap your Hub under All Devices
    Note: You can also swipe to the side from the All Devices screen to view the device list for your Place, which includes the Hub

OR

  1. Tap the Place name on the first screen of the sliding carousel
  2. Tap your Hub under the device list for your Place

 

Delete a Hub

NOTE: Deleting a Hub will restore factory settings. This means all devices connected to your Hub will have to be reset or excluded before they can be reconnected. All automations, Rules, and Modes associated with that Hub will be lost as well. 

  1. Tap My devices and swipe to your Place
  2. Tap the three dots in the top right
  3. Tap Edit
  4. Select the SmartThings Hub
  5. Tap Delete device
  6. Tap Delete again to confirm (this cannot be undone)
