Samsung SmartCam

With the Samsung SmartThings Hub and Samsung SmartCam HD Pro (SNH-P6410BN), you can enjoy event-based video clip recording through Smart Home Monitor and live streaming video within Things and Rooms.

 

Setting Up a New Camera

Note: Samsung SmartCam HD Plus models are Wi-Fi only and must be connected to your network through the Samsung SmartCam app first, then connected to the SmartThings Hub as an existing camera. Find the steps to connect an existing camera here.

Connect a new Samsung SmartCam with the SmartThings Hub:

  1. In the SmartThings mobile app, tap Marketplace
  2. Under the Things view, tap Cameras
  3. Select the Samsung SmartCam HD Pro model
  4. Tap Connect Now
  5. Tap Setup New Camera
  6. Follow the in-app instructions for powering up the camera
  7. Tap Next
  8. Wait for the SmartThings Hub to automatically discover the Samsung SmartCam
  9. Select the discovered camera
  10. Tap Next
  11. When prompted, create a password for the camera
    • Below Create a password, tap Tap to set
    • Enter a password
    • The password cannot contain spaces, forward or backward slashes, or question marks
  12. Tap Next
  13. Wait for the message, “Password accepted!”
  14. Tap Next
  15. Configure the camera to communicate wirelessly via Wi-Fi (see steps below),
    OR choose Skip wireless setup
  16. Tap Done to complete setup and installation

 

Enable Samsung SmartCam HD Pro to communicate wirelessly via Wi-Fi (optional):

Note: The camera and the SmartThings Hub must be on the same network.

  1. When prompted during the SmartCam Setup, choose Tap to select/change Network Name to configure the camera to communicate via Wi-Fi
  2. Tap to select your Wi-Fi network from a list, OR type in the network name
  3. Enter the password for the Wi-Fi network
  4. Tap Next
  5. Follow the in-app instructions to disconnect the ethernet cable and wait for the camera’s indicator light to turn green
  6. Tap Next
  7. Wait for the app to confirm discovery of the camera on the wireless network
  8. Tap Done to complete setup and installation

Setting Up an Existing Camera

If you haven’t connected your camera to the Samsung SmartCam app already, first download the app for Android or iOS and then connect your camera to your network with the in-app steps there.

Connect an existing Samsung SmartCam with the SmartThings Hub:

  1. In the SmartThings mobile app, tap Marketplace
  2. Under the Things view, tapCameras
  3. Select your Samsung SmartCam model
  4. Tap Connect Now
  5. Tap Connect to Existing Camera
  6. Wait for the SmartThings Hub to automatically discover the Samsung SmartCam
  7. Select the discovered camera
  8. Tap Next
  9. When prompted, enter the camera’s password
  10. Tap Next
  11. Wait for the message, “Password accepted!”
  12. Tap Next
  13. Tap Done to complete setup and installation

 

Changing Camera Settings

To configure or change settings for a connected camera:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Tap Things
  3. Select the camera
  4. Tap the gear icon

Removing the Camera from SmartThings

If the camera is not performing as expected, you may need to reset the device and/or remove and reconnect the device with the SmartThings Hub.

To remove the device via the SmartThings app:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Tap Things
  3. Select the camera
  4. Tap the gear icon
  5. Tap Edit Device
  6. Tap Remove
  7. Confirm removal (this cannot be undone)

 

Known Errors

Error messages

Error messages may appear if you enter the wrong camera password (for an existing camera) or the wrong network password. Follow the in-app instructions to resolve the indicated error or check out this troubleshooting guide.
