Samsung SmartThings Outlet

The Samsung SmartThings Outlet lets you control, automate, and monitor lamps, electronics, and small appliances from anywhere—it’s not laziness, it’s the future! All you have to do is plug the device into the Outlet. Trigger lamps to automatically turn on when you come home, turn off an accidentally left-on coffee pot from your smartphone, and transform any three-prong outlet into a smart, controllable device.

When plugged in, this ZigBee outlet also acts as a ZigBee repeater, extending the range of ZigBee devices on your network. There's no wiring or complicated setup needed.

How to connect the Samsung SmartThings Outlet to the SmartThings Hub

Follow the instructions below or consult the Outlet’s Quick-Start Guide at the bottom of this article.

In the SmartThings mobile app:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Under Things, tap Add a Thing at the bottom of your Things list
  3. The app will say Looking for devices…
  4. While the Hub searches, plug in the Outlet
  5. When the device is discovered, it will be listed at the top of the screen
  6. Tap the device to rename it and tap Done
  7. When finished, tap Save
  8. Tap Ok to confirm

How to reset the Samsung SmartThings Outlet

If the Samsung SmartThings Outlet didn't connect to the Hub when you plugged it in, reset and connect the device manually.

  1. Remove the Outlet from the wall receptacle
  2. Press and hold the Outlet’s Connect button while plugging the device back into the wall
  3. As soon as the LED turns on, quickly release the button
  4. From the SmartThings app, tap My Home
  5. Under Things, tap Add a Thing at the bottom of your Things list
  6. The app will say Looking for devices…
  7. Once the app shows a device has been found, follow the configuration steps above

How to remove the Outlet from SmartThings

If the Outlet is not performing as expected, you may need to reset the device and/or remove and reconnect the device with the SmartThings Hub.

To remove the device via the SmartThings app:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Tap Things
  3. Select the Outlet
  4. Tap the gear icon
  5. Tap Remove
  6. Confirm removal (this cannot be undone)
