How to connect Aeotec MultiSensors

The Aeotec MultiSensor is a battery-powered, all-in-one Z-Wave motion, temperature, humidity, and lighting sensor–rated for both indoor and outdoor use! The MultiSensor 6 is also equipped with a UV sensor.

To connect the Aeotec MultiSensor with the SmartThings Hub

In the SmartThings mobile app:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Under Things, tap Add a Thing at the bottom of your Things list
  3. The app will say Looking for devices…
  4. While the Hub searches, perform the inclusion procedure on the MultiSensor:
    • For the MultiSensor original and Gen 5, press the black button inside the battery cover once (to the right of the sensitivity dial)
    • For the MultiSensor 6, press the button on the back once (the small indented circle)
  5. When the device is discovered, it will be listed at the top of the screen
  6. Tap the device to rename it and tap Done
  7. When finished, tap Save
  8. Tap Ok to confirm

 

To reset the Aeotec MultiSensor

If the Aeotec MultiSensor was not discovered, you may need to reset, or “exclude,” the device before it can successfully connect with the SmartThings Hub. To do this in the SmartThings mobile app:

  1. Tap the menu (Android) / More (iOS)
  2. Tap the Hub
  3. Tap Z-Wave Utilities
  4. Tap General Device Exclusion
  5. When prompted, perform the exclusion procedure on the MultiSensor:
    • For the MultiSensor original and Gen 5, press the black button inside the battery cover once (to the right of the sensitivity dial)
    • For the MultiSensor 6, press the button on the back once (the small indented circle)

After the app indicates that the device was successfully removed from SmartThings, follow the first set of instructions above to connect the Aeotec MultiSensor.

 

To remove the Aeotec MultiSensor from SmartThings

If the Aeotec MultiSensor is connected but not performing as normal, you may need to remove the device and reconnect it with the SmartThings Hub.

To remove the device via the SmartThings app:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Tap Things
  3. Select the device
  4. Tap the gear icon
  5. Tap Remove
  6. Confirm removal
  7. When prompted, perform the exclusion procedure to remove the device from the mobile app and from the SmartThings Hub
