Requirements

Before enabling SmartThings on your Apple Watch, you must:

 

Enable SmartThings on the Apple Watch

Follow the steps below or watch this video walkthrough.

 

1. Include SmartThings in the Today widget

On your iPhone:

  1. Go to the Notification Center by swiping down from the top of the screen
  2. Under Today, tap Edit
  3. Scroll to the DO NOT INCLUDE list
  4. Tap the green plus button for SmartThings
    • SmartThings will move to the top list of included widgets
  5. Tap Done

You will return to the Notification Center, and the SmartThings widget will appear under the Today view.

The SmartThings iOS widget shows Locations and their associated Routines, which you can trigger by tapping.

 

2. Choose which Routines to display on the Apple Watch

On your iPhone:

  1. Open the SmartThings app
  2. Tap the menu (Android) / More (iOS)
  3. Tap My Account
  4. Tap Manage Widget and Watch
  5. Select which Routines to display on the watch by toggling the switches
    (You can choose Routines from multiple Locations)
  6. Tap Done
  7. Tap Done again

 

3. Show SmartThings on your Apple Watch

On your iPhone:

  1. Open the Apple Watch app
  2. Tap the My Watch menu
  3. Select SmartThings from the list
  4. Toggle on the switch for “Show App on Apple Watch”

Now you can activate SmartThings Routines from your Apple Watch.

 

Execute SmartThings Routines on the Apple Watch

On your Apple Watch:

  1. Locate the SmartThings icon on the home screen
  2. Tap the icon to open SmartThings
  3. Routines will list for a single Location
  4. Tap to execute the Routine

 

Switch between SmartThings Locations on the Apple Watch

If you enabled Routines for multiple Locations, do the following to switch between SmartThings Locations.

On your Apple Watch:

  1. Open SmartThings
  2. Force Touch the screen (firmly press and hold)
  3. Tap Switch Location
  4. Select the desired Location
  5. Routines will list for that Location

The Apple Watch will remember and return you to the last-used Location when you close and reopen the app.

 

Get push notifications on the Apple Watch

Any SmartThings push notifications configured to go to your iPhone will also display on your Apple Watch.
