Sengled Element Classic and Plus

The Sengled Element Classic and Sengled Element Plus are ZigBee bulbs you can use with SmartThings and other connected devices to automate your lighting on a schedule, or turn the bulb on and off in response to activity around the house.

To see which Sengled Element Classic and Plus bulbs are supported, in the SmartThings app:

  1. From the Home screen, touch Menu (Menu icon)
  2. Touch Supported devices
  3. Touch Sengled

  • SmartThings app
  • SmartThings Classic app

How to connect the Sengled Element bulb in the SmartThings app

In the SmartThings mobile app:

  1. From the Home screen, touch the Plus (+) icon and select Add device
  2. Select Sengled and touch Light bulb
  3. Choose a Hub for the device and touch Next
  4. Choose a Room for the device and touch Next
  5. While the Hub searches, install the light and power it on

 

How to reset the Sengled Element Bulb

If the Sengled Element Bulb was not discovered, you may need to reset it before it can successfully connect with the SmartThings Hub. To physically reset the device:

  1. Turn the light off and on ten (10) times (using a light switch or power strip works best)
  2. The bulb will blink 5 times when it has successfully reset

Check out the video here for a demonstration of the reset process. Once reset, the bulb is then ready to be connected with the SmartThings Hub. Follow the instructions above to connect the bulb and the Hub should automatically discover the bulb within a few minutes.

How to connect the Sengled Element Bulb in the SmartThings Classic app

In the SmartThings Classic mobile app:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Under Things, tap Add a Thing at the bottom of your Things list
  3. The app will say Looking for devices…
  4. While the Hub searches, turn the bulb ON
  5. When the device is discovered, it will be listed at the top of the screen
  6. Tap the device to rename it and tap Done
  7. When finished, tap Save
  8. Tap Ok to confirm

 

How to reset the Sengled Element Bulb

To re-initiate pairing mode, reset the bulb.

Or, if the bulb is connected with SmartThings but is not performing as expected, remove the device via the SmartThings app, reset the device, and then reconnect it with the SmartThings Hub.

To remove the device via the SmartThings Classic app:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Tap Things
  3. Tap the device you wish to remove
  4. Tap the gear icon
  5. Tap Remove
  6. Confirm removal (this cannot be undone)

To physically reset the device:

  1. Beginning with the bulb ON, quickly turn the bulb OFF and ON 10 times in quick succession (using a light switch or power strip works best)
  2. The bulb will blink 5 times when it has successfully reset

Once reset, the bulb is then ready to be connected with the SmartThings Hub. Follow the first set of instructions above to connect the bulb and the Hub should automatically discover the bulb within a few minutes.
