GE Smart Motion Sensor

The GE Smart Motion Sensor (34193) is a Z-Wave motion sensor perfect for keeping an eye on your home. Connect it to SmartThings to monitor the comings and goings in your home and trigger lights, sirens, and more!

Connect the GE Motion Sensor with the SmartThings Hub

During initial connection with the SmartThings Hub, the GE Motion Sensor should be within 15 feet of the Hub. After successful connection, the GE Motion Sensor can then be moved to the desired location.

In the SmartThings app:

  1. From the Home screen, touch the Plus (+) icon and select Add device
  2. Select GE and touch Motion sensor
  3. Choose a Hub for the device and touch Next
  4. Choose a Room for the device and touch Next
  5. While the Hub searches, press the button once

 

Reset/exclude the GE Motion Sensor

If the GE Motion Sensor was not discovered, you may need to reset, or “exclude,” the device before it can successfully connect with the SmartThings Hub. To do this in the SmartThings mobile app:

  1. From the Home screen, touch Menu (Menu icon), and select Devices
  2. Touch the Hub and select More Options (More Options menu icon)
  3. Touch Z-Wave utilities and select Z-Wave exclusion
  4. Press the button once

After the app indicates that the device was successfully removed from SmartThings, follow the first set of instructions above to connect the GE Motion Sensor.

 

Connect the GE Motion Sensor in the SmartThings Classic app

During initial connection with the SmartThings Hub, the GE Motion Sensor should be within 15 feet of the Hub. After successful connection, the GE Motion Sensor can then be moved to the desired location.

In the SmartThings Classic app:

  1. Touch My Home
  2. Under Things, touch Add a Thing at the bottom of your Things list
  3. The app will say Looking for devices…
  4. While the Hub searches, press the button on the device once
  • The blue LED will activate for 3 seconds to confirm when it connects
  • When the device is discovered, it will be listed at the top of the screen
  • Touch the device to rename it and touch Done
  • When finished, touch Save
  • Touch Ok to confirm

  1. Touch the menu (Android) / More (iOS)
  2. Touch the Hub
  3. Touch Z-Wave Utilities
  4. Touch General Device Exclusion
  5. Press the button on the device once

After the app indicates that the device was successfully removed from SmartThings, follow the first set of instructions above to connect the GE Motion Sensor.
