How to update your SmartThings account to a Samsung account

New users:

If you are a new user and need to set up your account, your Hub, and your entire SmartThings setup, read our Getting Started guide. You do not need to update your account.

 

Existing users:

SmartThings is updating our login system to Samsung accounts. Existing SmartThings users will need to either create a new Samsung account or sign in to an existing Samsung account to use as your new login information. This process should only take a moment.

 

  • I do not have a Samsung account
  • I already have a Samsung account
  1. Open the SmartThings Classic app
  2. Tap Update Now on the Important Account Notice banner displayed at the top
  3. Tap Continue
  4. Enter your SmartThings password
  5. Tap Verify
  6. Tap Create Account
  7. Tap Agree for the Samsung Terms and Conditions, Terms of Services, and Samsung Privacy Policy
  8. Enter your email address
  9. Enter your password
  10. Confirm your password
  11. Enter your first and last name
  12. Enter your date of birth and ZIP code
  13. Tap Next
  14. Tap Done
  15. Tap Done again to complete the update
  1. Open the SmartThings Classic app
  2. Tap Update Now on the Important Account Notice banner displayed at the top
  3. Tap Continue
  4. Enter your SmartThings password
  5. Tap Verify
  6. Enter your Samsung account ID and password and then tap Sign In
    OR if you’re already logged into your Samsung account on your Samsung device, simply tap Continue
  7. Confirm your full name is entered correctly and tap Save
  8. Tap Done to complete the update

 

Moving forward, use your Samsung account credentials (email address and password) to access SmartThings, both in the app and on the web. Your previous SmartThings account information will no longer work.
