How to add a SmartThings Hub in the Samsung Connect app

If you have a Samsung Connect Home, you can find the setup steps here.

Adding a SmartThings Hub to your Samsung Connect app will allow you to connect to SmartThings products and the many third-party devices that work with SmartThings.

 

Set up a SmartThings Hub

In the Samsung Connect app:

  1. From the Dashboard, tap Add device
  2. For Android, tap Add Device Manually
  3. Tap Hubs
  4. Select the Samsung SmartThings Hub v2
  5. Agree to the SmartThings Privacy Policy and tap Next
  6. Follow the in-app instructions to connect your Hub, which are reproduced here:
    1. Connect your Hub using the included power and network cables.
    2. Don't unplug the Hub during the setup process. Setup will take 5-10 minutes to complete.
  7. Tap Next
  8. Enter the 6-character Welcome code that was packaged with the Hub
  9. Tap Next
  10. When the Hub is successfully added, tap Done

 

If you have not already created a Location, adding a SmartThings Hub will automatically create a Location (with the default name Home), which is the main launch pad for your connected Hub, devices, and Scenes.

 

Add a SmartThings Hub to an existing Location

In the Samsung Connect app:

  1. From the Dashboard, tap on the Devices tab
  2. Tap the Location drop-down menu at the top of the screen
  3. Tap the name of your Location
  4. Tap Add device
    • For iOS, tap the plus icon
  5. For Android, tap Add Device Manually
  6. Tap Hubs
  7. Select the Samsung SmartThings Hub v2
  8. Agree to the SmartThings Privacy Policy
  9. Follow the in-app instructions to connect your Hub, which are reproduced here:
    1. Connect your Hub using the included power and network cables.
    2. Don't unplug the Hub during the setup process. Setup will take 5-10 minutes to complete.
  10. Tap Next
  11. Enter the 6-character Welcome code that was packaged with the Hub
  12. Tap Next
  13. When the Hub is successfully added, tap Done

View a SmartThings Hub

  1. Tap Devices
  2. Tap the Location drop-down menu at the top of the screen
  3. Select All devices
  4. Tap on the Hub

OR

  1. From the Dashboard, tap the name of the Location in the sliding carousel
  2. Tap your SmartThings Hub under the device list for your Location

Note: You can access the Hub at any time from the Dashboard by adding a shortcut.

 

Delete a SmartThings Hub

NOTE: Deleting a SmartThings Hub will restore factory settings. This means all devices connected to your Hub will have to be reset or excluded before they can be reconnected. All automations and Scenes associated with that Hub will be lost as well.

  1. Tap Devices
  2. Tap the Location drop-down menu at the top of the screen
  3. Tap on the name of your Location
  4. Tap the three dots in the top right
  5. Tap Edit
  6. Select the red minus icon next to the SmartThings Hub
  7. Tap Delete to confirm (this cannot be undone)
