How can I invite members in the Samsung Connect app?

Invite family and friends to your Location in the Samsung Connect app and give them access to view and control your devices and automations.

How to invite a member to share your Location

There are two methods to invite a member to share your Location–with their Samsung account ID or a QR code. Either way, the new member should first download the Samsung Connect app and sign up or log in with their Samsung account.

How to invite a member with their Samsung account ID:

  1. In the Samsung Connect app, tap on the Devices tab
  2. Tap the Location drop-down menu at the top of the screen
  3. Tap on your Location
  4. Tap the three dots in the top right
  5. Tap Invite member
  6. Enter the Samsung Account ID and tap the mail icon to send the invite

The invited member will accept the invite on their mobile device with these steps:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the notification for the invite
    OR
    Tap the invite in the app, which appears on the first page of the home screen sliding carousel
  2. Tap Accept

The invited member will now have access to the Location and associated devices and automations.

 

How to invite a member with a QR code:

  1. In the Samsung Connect app, tap on the Devices tab
  2. Tap the Location drop-down menu at the top of the screen
  3. Tap on your Location
  4. Tap the three dots in the top right
  5. Tap Invite member
  6. Tap Create QR Code

The invited member will scan the QR code on their mobile device to accept the invite with these steps:

  1. In the Samsung Connect app, tap on the Dashboard tab
  2. Tap the three dots in the top right
  3. Tap Settings
  4. Tap Accept invitation (QR code)
  5. Tap Allow to give Samsung Connect permission to take pictures
  6. Point the phone's camera at the QR code. The app will automatically scan the code when it is in view of the target square

The invited member will now have access to the Location and associated devices and automations.

 

How to view owners and members of a Location

  1. Tap on the Devices tab
  2. Tap the Location drop-down menu at the top of the screen
  3. Tap on your Location
  4. Tap the three dots in the top right
  5. Tap Edit
  6. Scroll to Members
  7. The app will display the names of those who have access to the Location
    along with a designation as the owner or a member

 

Member permissions

Members have almost the same permissions to view and control the Location and associated devices and automations. Here are the exceptions:

  • Members cannot add or remove members
  • Members cannot delete a Location. They can only leave the Location and relinquish access
  • Members cannot delete devices that were added by the owner or other members. They can delete devices that they added to the Location from their account

 

How to remove a member from a Location

Only the owner of a Location can remove members from a Location in the Samsung Connect app.

  1. Tap on the Devices tab
  2. Tap the Location drop-down menu at the top of the screen
  3. Tap on your Location
  4. Tap the three dots in the top right
  5. Tap Edit
  6. Scroll to Members
  7. Tap the minus icon (-) next to the member to be removed
  8. Tap Save

 

How to leave a Location as a member

Members cannot delete a Location in the Samsung Connect app, but they can leave a Location and relinquish access.

  1. Tap on the Devices tab
  2. Tap the Location drop-down menu at the top of the screen
  3. Tap on your Location
  4. Tap the three dots in the top right
  5. Tap Edit
  6. Tap Leave Location
  7. Tap Leave to confirm (this cannot be undone)
