How to add an ADT Security Hub

The ADT Security Hub acts as the brain of your smart home and the base of your home security system, with optional professional monitoring services.

This guide will show you how to:

Set up the ADT Security Hub

  1. Place the ADT Security Hub in an area of your home that has good Wi-Fi and cellular coverage. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight, near heat sources, where it can be easily viewed from doors or windows, or where it can be reached by small children
  2. Attach the desk mount to the ADT Security Hub and tighten the mounting plate screw
    • The desk mount can be installed upside down for the Panel to lean back further for easy viewing
    • You can also mount the ADT Security Hub flat on a wall
  3. Connect the ADT Security Hub to a power outlet. Make sure the outlet is not controlled by a switch that could accidentally cut the power
    1. For compliance with ANSI/NFPA 70 National Electric Code, install the power plug retaining bracket
      1. Use the pre-applied adhesive tape to attach the retaining bracket to the wall outlet and then secure the bracket using the fastening screw
      2. Spread the edges of the bracket apart and insert the power plug into the power outlet. Thread the zip ties through the slots and fasten them to secure the power plug
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the ADT Security Hub to your Wi-Fi network. Your ADT Security Hub will check for firmware updates
    1. The Panel will say "Hello! Welcome to your Samsung SmartThings ADT Security Hub. Let's get started." Tap OK
    2. The panel will prompt you by saying, "Let's connect to a wireless network. Please choose your network." Tap OK
    3. Select your network and enter the password and tap Next
    4. Tap OK when you see the success message "Your wireless network is connected. Let's make sure your system is up to date."
    5. The ADT Security Hub will check for firmware updates and install the latest version, if needed. Once complete, your ADT Security Hub will say “Your system is up to date.” Tap OK
  5. An Activation Code will be displayed on the ADT Security Hub touchscreen. This code must be entered into the SmartThings Classic app when prompted
