ADT Keychain Remote

The ADT Keychain Remote is an ADT Security Hub accessory that allows you to arm or disarm your SmartThings ADT home security at the press of a button or send a panic alert to ADT Professional Monitoring Services (additional fees apply).

Note: The ADT Keychain Remote requires the ADT Security Hub.

How to connect the ADT Keychain Remote to the ADT Security Hub

Make sure the ADT Keychain Remote is within 15 feet of the ADT Security Hub during setup. Once you’ve set up your remote, you’ll be able to use it anywhere within 350 feet from the ADT Security Hub. (Exact range depends on your home’s construction, the environment, and the position of the ADT Security Hub.) Also make sure your ADT Security Hub is disarmed before connecting a new device.

In the SmartThings mobile app:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Under Things, tap Add a Thing at the bottom of your Things list
  3. Tap the plus icon at the bottom of the screen
  4. Tap Install Code
  5. Scan the QR code on the back of the device
    • If scanning the QR code doesn’t work, enter the 16-digit Installation code manually
  6. Press and hold the Disarm and Away buttons on the device for 5 seconds until the LED ring starts blinking red
  7. When the device is discovered, it will be listed at the top of the screen
  8. Tap the device to rename it and tap Done
  9. When finished, tap Save
  10. Tap Ok to confirm

Remove the QR code from the back of the remote and attach it inside the included Setup Guide for future reference.

Note: If you have an ADT professional monitoring service activated, additional testing is required whenever you connect a new device. Follow the in-app steps when prompted.

How to reset the ADT Keychain Remote

If the ADT Keychain Remote didn't connect successfully when you pressed the buttons and scanned the QR Code, reset the device before you try connecting it again.

  1. Press and hold the Disarm and Away buttons on the device for 5 seconds until the LED ring starts blinking red. If the button is released before the LED blinks red, the reset will not be successful

Next, follow the steps above in “How to connect the ADT Keychain Remote to the ADT Security Hub.” After scanning the QR code, the ADT Security Hub should discover your device within a couple of minutes.
