Home and Life Safety Monitoring with the ADT Security Hub

Home and Life safety protection is provided by devices such as the ADT Smoke Alarm, the ADT Carbon Monoxide Alarm, and the ADT Water Leak Detector. These devices are always active and monitored by your ADT Security Hub. You can also sign up for the optional ADT Professional Monitoring Services. ADT Smoke Alarms and ADT Carbon Monoxide Alarms must be installed in compliance with all national, regional, and local laws, statutes, and guidelines.

In the event of smoke or extreme temperatures

If an ADT Smoke Alarm detects smoke or extreme temperatures:

  • The alarm siren on the ADT Smoke Alarm device will be activated
  • The alarm siren on the ADT Security Hub Panel will be activated for 4 minutes or until a correct user code is entered to cancel the alarm
  • If your home is protected by an ADT Professional Monitoring Service, the ADT Security Hub will notify ADT as soon as the alarm siren is activated. An ADT operator will call the primary account phone number to ensure your safety. ADT will ask for the Personal Identification Code (PIC) or verbal password to prevent the fire department from being notified. If the call is not answered or the PIC or verbal password cannot be provided, ADT will notify the fire department, and call the remaining contacts on your contact list until they are able to speak with someone or run out of contact list phone numbers

To protect yourself and occupants do the following:

  • Immediately evacuate all occupants from the premises and remain at a safe distance away from the premises
  • To protect yourself and others from serious injury and/or death, do NOT re-enter the premises until it has been deemed safe by emergency officials
  • Dial 911 to report the situation to authorities. Always wait to call from a safe location

Note: It is important to establish and practice an escape plan with all members of your household in the event of a fire. Read the user guide that came with your ADT Smoke Alarm to learn more about fire safety, alarm testing, and creating an escape plan.

In the event of carbon monoxide

If an ADT Carbon Monoxide Alarm detects critical levels of carbon monoxide for more than 2 minutes:

  • The alarm siren on the ADT Carbon Monoxide Alarm will be activated
  • The alarm siren on the ADT Security Hub will be activated for 4 minutes or until a correct user code is entered to cancel the alarm
  • If your home is protected by an ADT Professional Monitoring Service, the ADT Security Hub will notify ADT as soon as the Carbon Monoxide Alarm signal is activated. An ADT operator will call the primary account phone number to advise you to leave the location while they notify the fire department. After notifying the fire department, ADT will call the remaining contacts on your contact list until they are able to speak with someone or run out of contact list phone numbers

In the event of a critical carbon monoxide alert, you should immediately open a window or door to get fresh air. Evacuate all occupants from the premises and call 911 or the fire department. Remain at a safe distance and do not re-enter the premises until it has been deemed safe by emergency officials.

Read the user guide that came with your ADT Carbon Monoxide Alarm to learn more about how the alarm responds to low or moderate levels of carbon monoxide.

In the event of a water leak

If an ADT Water Leak Detector detects moisture or water:

  • If your home is protected by an ADT Professional Monitoring Service, the ADT Security Hub will notify ADT as soon as the leak is detected. An ADT operator will call the primary account phone number to notify you of the leak. Please be ready to provide your Personal Identification Code (PIC) or verbal password to the ADT operator. If the call is not answered or the PIC or verbal password cannot be provided, ADT will call the remaining contacts on your contact list until they are able to speak with someone or run out of contact list phone numbers

In the event of a water leak, you should quickly take note of where the leak is coming from, and take any necessary measures to repair the leak. Do not submerge the ADT Water Leak Detector completely. Read the user guide that came with your ADT Water Leak Detector to learn more about how the detector should be placed in order to optimize its functionality.

Note: Unlike the other ADT detectors and alarms, the ADT Water Leak Detector is unable to communicate with the ADT Security Hub during a power or internet outage.
