Troubleshooting: Samsung SmartThings Arrival Sensor won't update its status

If your Samsung SmartThings Arrival Sensor or SmartSense Presence Sensor is stuck in a particular state, there are a few things you can try to correct it.

  • The sensor may be out of range. Try moving it closer to the Hub. You can also extend your ZigBee network's range with repeaters. Go here to learn more about building an ideal mesh network.
  • In some rare cases, having an old SmartPower Outlet (Smartenit) plugged in can interfere with the sensor's ability to communicate with the Hub. To test this, unplug the outlet for a day and see if the sensor reports in properly. If that works, contact support for more tips on troubleshooting your old SmartPower Outlet.
  • Remove and reconnect your Samsung SmartThings Arrival Sensor or SmartSense Presence Sensor to your Hub.
  • The battery could be dead. Replace the battery, then see if the sensor checks in.
