GE Zigbee Switches and Dimmers and Outlets

GE In-Wall Zigbee devices allow for convenient wireless control of LED, incandescent, and fluorescent lighting loads. With GE switches and SmartThings, you can schedule and automate your lights to turn on or off when you leave home, when there's motion in the hallway, when the sun sets, and so much more.

This article will tell you how to connect the following GE In-Wall ZigBee devices with the SmartThings Hub:

Note: If you have a GE Z-Wave device, follow these instructions for how to connect a GE Z-Wave device.

 

Installation of the GE In-Wall Zigbee device is simple, and it works seamlessly with your home's existing wiring and 2- or 3-way systems.

 

 

  • SmartThings app
  • SmartThings Classic app

To connect the GE In-Wall Zigbee device in the SmartThings app

In the SmartThings app:

  1. From the Home screen, touch the Plus (+) icon and select Add device
  2. Select GE and touch Switch/dimmer, then select GE ZigBee
  3. Choose a Hub for the device and touch Next
  4. Choose a Room for the device and touch Next
  5. While the Hub searches,
    • For in-wall switches and dimmers:
      1. Press up on the switch once
    • For outlets:
      1. Plug the device into a wall socket

 

To reset the GE In-Wall Zigbee device

If the device wasn’t discovered, you may need to reset the device before it can successfully connect with the SmartThings Hub. To do this:

  • For switches and dimmers:
    1. Press up on the switch ten (10) times
  • For outlets:
    1. Unplug the outlet from the wall socket
    2. Hold the connect button
    3. Plug in the outlet while holding the connect button
    4. Release the button when the LED turns on

After the LED starts blinking, follow the first set of instructions above to connect the device.

To connect the GE In-Wall Zigbee device in the SmartThings Classic app

In the SmartThings Classic mobile app:

  1. Touch My Home
  2. Under Things, touch Add a Thing at the bottom of your Things list
  3. The app will say Looking for devices…
  4. While the Hub searches,
    • For in-wall switches and dimmers:
      1. Press up on the switch once
    • For outlets:
      1. Plug the device into a wall socket

 

To reset the GE In-Wall Zigbee device
