Honeywell Z-Wave Thermostat (YTH8320ZW1007/U)

The Honeywell Z-Wave Thermostat (YTH8320ZW1007/U) is a programmable Z­-Wave thermostat that can be used to remotely control and automate the temperature inside your home.

Combined with SmartThings, the Honeywell Z-Wave Thermostat enables you to make your house warmer or cooler with your smartphone no matter where you are. Take things to the next level and combine the device with SmartThings' mobile presence features to automatically turn off the AC as you leave the house.

Connect the Honeywell Z-Wave Thermostat in the SmartThings app

In the SmartThings mobile app:

  1. From the Dashboard, tap Add device
  2. Android: Tap Add Device Manually
  3. Select Thermostat
  4. Tap Honeywell Z-Wave Thermostat
  5. If you have more than one SmartThings Hub connected, select the Location you would like to add the device to, then tap Done
  6. While the Hub searches:
    1. Press the System button on the left side of the thermostat's display
    2. Press and hold the blank center button until the display changes
    3. The first set of numbers/arrows is the "Function" section - Scroll until you find RF10
    4. The second set of numbers/arrows is the "Setting" section - Select 1
    5. Press Done in the lower left corner to save and exit
  7. When the device is discovered, a message will appear that the device was successfully connected to your SmartThings Hub
  8. Tap Edit to rename the device
  9. When finished, tap Done
  10. Tap Done again to confirm

 

To reset the Honeywell Z-Wave Thermostat

If the Honeywell Z-Wave Thermostat was not detected, you may need to reset the device through a Z-Wave exclusion before it can successfully connect with the SmartThings Hub. To do so in the SmartThings mobile app:

  1. From the Dashboard, tap on the Devices tab
  2. Tap the Hub
  3. Tap the three dots in the top right
  4. Tap Z-Wave exclusion
  5. When prompted:
    1. Press the System button on the left side of the thermostat's display
    2. Press and hold the blank center button until the display changes
    3. The first set of numbers/arrows is the "Function" section - Scroll until you find "RF10"
    4. The second set of numbers/arrows is the "Setting" section - Select 0
    5. Press Done in the lower left corner to save and exit

After the app indicates that the device was successfully removed from SmartThings, follow the first set of instructions above to connect the Honeywell Z-Wave Thermostat.

 

To remove the Honeywell Z-Wave Thermostat from SmartThings

If the Honeywell Z-Wave Thermostat is connected but not operating as normal, you may need to remove the device and reconnect it with the SmartThings Hub.

To remove the device via the SmartThings app:

  1. From the Dashboard, tap on the Devices tab
  2. Tap the three dots in the top right
  3. Tap Edit
  4. Tap the red minus icon (-) next to the name of the device
  5. Confirm removal (this cannot be undone)
  6. When prompted, perform the exclusion procedure to remove the device from the mobile app and from the SmartThings Hub

Connect the Honeywell Z-Wave Thermostat in the SmartThings Classic app

From the SmartThings Classic mobile app:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Under Things, tap Add a Thing at the bottom of your Things list
  3. The app will say Looking for devices…
  4. While the Hub searches:
    1. Press the System button on the left side of the thermostat's display
    2. Press and hold the blank center button until the display changes
    3. The first set of numbers/arrows is the "Function" section - Scroll until you find RF10
    4. The second set of numbers/arrows is the "Setting" section - Select 1
    5. Press Done in the lower left corner to save and exit
  5. When the device is discovered, it will be listed at the top of the screen
  6. Tap the device to rename it and tap Done
  7. When finished, tap Save
  8. Tap Ok to confirm

 

To reset the Honeywell Z-Wave Thermostat

If the Honeywell Z-Wave Thermostat was not detected, you may need to reset the device through a Z-Wave exclusion before it can successfully connect with the SmartThings Hub. To do so in the SmartThings Classic mobile app:

  1. Tap the menu (Android) / More (iOS)
  2. Tap the Hub
  3. Tap Z-Wave Utilities
  4. Tap General Device Exclusion
  5. When prompted:
    1. Press the System button on the left side of the thermostat's display
    2. Press and hold the blank center button until the display changes
    3. The first set of numbers/arrows is the "Function" section - Scroll until you find "RF10"
    4. The second set of numbers/arrows is the "Setting" section - Select 0
    5. Press Done in the lower left corner to save and exit

After the app indicates that the device was successfully removed from SmartThings, follow the first set of instructions above to connect the Honeywell Z-Wave Thermostat.

 

To remove the Honeywell Z-Wave Thermostat from SmartThings Classic

If the Honeywell Z-Wave Thermostat is connected but not operating as normal, you may need to remove the device and reconnect it with the SmartThings Hub.

  4. Tap the gear icon
  5. Tap Remove
  6. Confirm removal
