Fibaro Door/Window Sensor

The Fibaro Door/Window Sensor comes in an assortment of colors to best match your interior design, allowing you to enjoy undisturbed aesthetics, security, comfort, and peace of mind. Paired with SmartThings, the Fibaro Door/Window Sensor can notify you when a door or window opens and closes. This is perfect for keeping an eye on your home when you're away. Or you can monitor medicine cabinets and other off-limits areas.

SmartThings supports both the Fibaro Door/Window Sensor Z-Wave and Z-Wave plus (or Fibaro 500 series) versions.

To connect the Fibaro Door/Window Sensor to the SmartThings Hub

From the SmartThings mobile app:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Under Things, tap Add a Thing at the bottom of your Things list
  3. The app will say Looking for devices…
  4. While the Hub searches, pull the battery tab from the Fibaro Door/Window Sensor
    • If the battery tab has already been removed, quickly press the button on the bottom of the sensor 3 times
  5. When the device is discovered, it will be listed at the top of the screen
  6. Tap the device to rename it and tap Done
  7. When finished, tap Save
  8. Tap Ok to confirm

 

To reset the Fibaro Door/Window Sensor

If the Fibaro Door/Window Sensor was not discovered, you may need to reset, or “exclude,” the device before it can successfully connect with the SmartThings Hub. To do this in the SmartThings mobile app:

  1. Tap the menu (Android) / More (iOS)
  2. Tap the Hub
  3. Tap Z-Wave Utilities
  4. Tap General Device Exclusion
  5. When prompted, quickly press the button on the bottom of the sensor 3 times

After the app indicates that the device was successfully removed from SmartThings, follow the first set of instructions above to connect the Fibaro Door/Window Sensor.

 

To remove the Fibaro Door/Window Sensor from SmartThings

If the Fibaro Door/Window Sensor is connected but not operating as normal, you may need to remove the device and reconnect it with the SmartThings Hub.

To remove the device via the SmartThings app:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Tap Things
  3. Select the device
  4. Tap the gear icon
  5. Tap Remove
  6. Confirm removal
  7. When prompted, perform the exclusion procedure to remove the device from the mobile app and from the SmartThings Hub

 

Note: The Fibaro Door/Window Sensor has built-in tamper detection. The enclosure for the sensor portion of the device MUST be in place (so the circuit board is not visible) in order for the Door/Window Sensor to be connected or reset.

To connect the Fibaro Door/Window Sensor to the Samsung Connect app

Note: The Fibaro Door/Window Sensor is supported in the US, UK and Chile.

From the Samsung Connect app:

  1. From the Dashboard, tap Add device
  2. Android: Tap Add Device Manually
  3. Select Open/closed sensor
  4. Tap Fibaro
    • If the battery tab has already been removed, quickly press the button on the bottom of the sensor 3 times
  5. When the device is discovered, a message will appear that the sensor was successfully connected to your SmartThings Hub
  6. Tap Edit to rename the device
  7. When finished, tap Done
  8. Tap Done again to confirm

 

To reset the Fibaro Door/Window Sensor

If the Fibaro Door/Window Sensor was not discovered, you may need to reset, or “exclude,” the device before it can successfully connect with the SmartThings Hub. To do this in the Samsung Connect app:

  1. From the Dashboard, tap on the Devices tab
  2. Tap the Hub
  3. Tap the three dots in the top right
  4. Tap Z-Wave exclusion
  5. When prompted, quickly press the button on the bottom of the sensor 3 times

After the app indicates that the device was successfully removed from Samsung Connect, follow the first set of instructions above to connect the Fibaro Door/Window Sensor.

 

To remove the Fibaro Door/Window Sensor from Samsung Connect

If the Fibaro Door/Window Sensor is connected but not operating as normal, you may need to remove the device and reconnect it with the SmartThings Hub.

To remove the device via the Samsung Connect app:

  1. From the Dashboard, tap on the Devices tab
  2. Tap the three dots in the top right
  3. Tap Edit
  4. Tap the red minus icon (-) next to the name of the device
  5. Confirm removal
  6. When prompted, perform the exclusion procedure to remove the device from the mobile app and from the SmartThings Hub

 

Note: The Fibaro Door/Window Sensor has built-in tamper detection. The enclosure for the sensor portion of the device MUST be in place (so the circuit board is not visible) in order for the Door/Window Sensor to be connected or reset.
