Belkin WeMo LED Bulb (F7C033)

How many SmartThings software engineers does it take to change a WeMo light bulb? None: That's a hardware issue. Ha!

The WeMo LED Bulb (F7C033) is a ZigBee LED bulb you can dim and control using SmartThings. Unlike other compatible WeMo devices, the WeMo LED bulb can connect directly to your SmartThings Hub without using the native WeMo app.

 

 

To connect a Belkin WeMo LED Bulb with the SmartThings Hub

Note: These instructions do NOT apply to the Belkin WeMo Switch Outlet, Belkin WeMo Motion Sensor, or Belkin WeMo In-Wall Switch. The WeMo LED Bulb DOES NOT require the native WeMo app or the WeMo Link in order to connect with SmartThings. Instructions for connecting the other WeMo devices mentioned above can be found here.

From the SmartThings mobile app:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Under Things, tap Add a Thing at the bottom of your Things list
  3. The app will say Looking for devices…
  4. While the Hub searches, install the WeMo LED Bulb within 10-15 feet of the SmartThings Hub and turn the bulb ON and OFF once (from the switch, as if using it normally)
  5. When the device is discovered, it will be listed at the top of the screen
  6. Tap the device to rename it and tap Done
  7. When finished, tap Save
  8. Tap Ok to confirm

 

To reset the Belkin WeMo LED Bulb

If the Belkin WeMo LED Bulb was not discovered, you may need to reset the device before it can successfully connect with the SmartThings Hub. To do this:

  1. Start with the bulb ON
  2. Turn OFF the bulb for 1 second
  3. Turn ON the bulb for 3-4 seconds
  4. Turn OFF the bulb for 1 second
  5. Turn ON the bulb for 3-4 seconds
  6. Turn OFF the bulb for 1 second
  7. Turn ON the bulb
  8. Wait until the bulb begins to blink (after about 5 seconds)
  9. In the SmartThings mobile app, tap My Home
  10. Under Things, tap Add a Thing at the bottom of your Things list
  11. The app will say Looking for devices…
  12. While the Hub is searching, turn the bulb OFF and ON once (from the switch, as if using it normally)
  13. Wait for the Hub to discover the bulb, then follow the on-screen instructions to configure the device

 

To remove the Belkin WeMo LED Bulb from SmartThings

If the Belkin WeMo LED Bulb is connected but not operating as normal, you may need to reset the device and/or remove and reconnect the device with the SmartThings Hub.

To remove the device via the SmartThings app:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Tap Things
  3. Select the device
  4. Tap the gear icon
  5. Tap Remove
  6. Confirm removal (this cannot be undone)

Once reset, the Belkin WeMo LED Bulb is ready to be connected with the SmartThings Hub. Follow the first set of instructions above to connect the Belkin WeMo LED Bulb.
