Samsung SmartThings Arrival Sensor (2015 model)

The Samsung SmartThings Arrival Sensor (2015 model) lets you stay connected to people, pets, and even cars by notifying you when they arrive and leave home. You can also trigger other smart devices to perform different actions when the Arrival Sensor comes in and out of the range of the SmartThings Hub: automatically turn the lights on or off, lock or unlock the front door, adjust the thermostat, and more. If you misplace your keys, the Arrival Sensor can even beep to guide you to the key ring it’s on.

With the Samsung SmartThings Arrival Sensor, you will always know when your loved ones are at home safe and sound, giving the whole family peace of mind.

The Samsung SmartThings Arrival Sensor (2015 model) has the same functionality, capabilities, and reset steps as the original SmartSense Presence Sensor.

 

How to connect the Samsung SmartThings Arrival Sensor (2015 model) to the SmartThings Hub

Follow the instructions below or consult the Arrival Sensor’s Quick-Start Guide at the bottom of this article.

In the SmartThings mobile app:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Under Things, tap Add a Thing at the bottom of your Things list
  3. The app will say Looking for devices…
  4. While the Hub searches, move the Arrival Sensor within 15 feet of the Hub and pull the REMOVE TO PAIR tab on the sensor
  5. When the device is discovered, it will be listed at the top of the screen
  6. Tap the device to rename it and tap Done
  7. When finished, tap Save
  8. Tap Ok to confirm

How to reset the Samsung SmartThings Arrival Sensor (2015 model)

If the Samsung SmartThings Arrival Sensor (2015 model) didn't connect to the Hub when you removed the pull-tab, reset and connect the device manually.

First:

  1. Insert a small flathead screwdriver into the groove at the base of the Arrival Sensor
  2. Gently twist the screwdriver. The plastic case should pop open
  3. Hold the Connect button on the sensor until the LED light turns off (about 6 seconds), and then release

Next, put the Hub in join mode:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Under Things, tap Add a Thing at the bottom of your Things list
  3. The app will say Looking for devices…

Last, while the Hub searches:

  1. Move the Arrival Sensor within 15 feet of Hub
  2. Press and quickly release the Connect button on the Arrival Sensor
  3. Once the app shows a device has been found, put the cover back on the Arrival Sensor
  4. Follow the configuration steps above

How to remove the Arrival Sensor from SmartThings

If the Arrival Sensor is not performing as expected, you may need to reset the device and/or remove and reconnect the device with the SmartThings Hub.

To remove the device via the SmartThings app:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Tap Things
  3. Select the Arrival Sensor
  4. Tap the gear icon
  5. Tap Remove
  6. Confirm removal (this cannot be undone)
