Is there a SmartThings widget?

After installing the SmartThings app and setting up an account, you can add a SmartThings widget to your phone for quick, easy control of your smart home. The SmartThings widget lets you activate a Routine with a single tap.

How to set up the widget

  1. Navigate to the Notification Center by swiping down from the top of the screen and then swiping from left to right
  2. Tap Edit
  3. Tap the green plus button beside SmartThings
    • SmartThings will move to the top list of included widgets
  4. Tap Done

You will return to the Notification Center, and the SmartThings widget will appear under the Today view. The SmartThings iOS widget shows Locations and their associated Routines, which you can trigger simply by tapping.

 

How to manage the widget

You can customize which Locations and Routines to display in the widget through the SmartThings app.

The Notification Center will prompt you to do this by tapping the message that says, Manage widget from My Account in SmartThings. You will then be automatically directed to the SmartThings mobile app.

From the app:

  1. Tap the menu (Android) / More (iOS)
  2. Tap My Account
  3. Tap Manage Widget
  4. Select which Routines to display in the widget by toggling the switches
  5. Tap Done

 

How to remove the widget

  1. Navigate to the Notification Center by swiping down from the top of the screen and then swiping from left to right
  2. Tap Edit
  3. Tap the red minus button beside SmartThings
    • SmartThings will move to the list below
  4. Tap Done

How to set up the widget

  1. Tap and hold a blank space on the home screen
  2. Tap WIDGETS
  3. Tap SmartThings
  4. Tap and hold Routine 1x1 to select a single Routine
    Or tap and hold Routines 2x2 to select all Routines of a single Location
  5. Drag the widget to the desired home screen panel, then release
  6. Select the single Location you want
    • If you selected Routine 1x1, also select the single Routine you wish to display

Once the Location’s information is loaded, its Routine(s) will display in the widget.

 

How to resize the widget

  1. Long press then release the widget
    • Drag markers (white circles) will appear
  2. Tap, hold, and drag a marker to resize
  3. Release the marker
  4. Tap outside the widget to dismiss the markers

 

How to remove the widget

  1. Tap and hold the widget
  2. Drag the widget over X Remove at the top of the screen
  3. Release the widget above X Remove to remove

 

How to change the widget’s Location

Only one Location can be displayed per widget in Android. You have the following options:

  • Set up multiple widgets to control multiple Locations
  • Remove the current widget and set up a new one with an alternative Location
