Do I need a Samsung account to connect my appliance with SmartThings?
The appliance won’t connect to WiFi, what should I do?

Also, most Samsung home appliances are unable to connect to 5GHz WiFi bands. Be sure to use a 2.4GHz network.

No. Using the SmartThings app, you can connect your home appliance to the same Location as your SmartThings Hub, but they do not need to be on the same network.
Does my phone have to be on the same network as well?
No. However, your phone must have an active internet connection in order to communicate with the Hub and the appliance through the SmartThings app and cloud.
