GoControl Door/Window Sensor (Linear WADWAZ-1)

The GoControl Door/Window Sensor is a wireless device that easily attaches to a door, window, cabinet, safe, or drawer. When that door opens or closes, the sensor will instantly notify you via SmartThings. You can also set up preconfigured alarms and automations to occur based on the sensor’s activity.

To connect the GoControl Door/Window Sensor in the SmartThings app

In the SmartThings app:

  1. From the Home screen, touch the Plus (+) icon and select Add device
  2. Select GoControl and touch Open/closed sensor
  3. Choose a Hub for the device and touch Next
  4. Choose a Room for the device and touch Next
  5. While the Hub searches, press the button once

 

To reset the GoControl Door/Window Sensor

If the GoControl Door/Window Sensor was not discovered, you may need to reset, or “exclude,” the device before it can successfully connect with the SmartThings Hub. To do this in the SmartThings app:

  1. From the Home screen, touch Menu (Menu icon), and select Devices
  2. Touch the Hub and select More Options (More Options menu icon)
  3. Touch Z-Wave utilities and select Z-Wave exclusion
  4. Press the button once

When the app indicates that the device was successfully removed from SmartThings, follow the instructions above to connect the GoControl Door/Window Sensor.

To connect the GoControl Door/Window Sensor in the SmartThings Classic app

 

1. Power the sensor

  1. Remove the screw fastening the rear cover, then slide open the cover
  2. Install one (1) CR123A battery in the battery compartment
  3. The sensor’s LED will flash slowly, indicating it is not yet on a Z-Wave network
  4. Do not replace the rear cover yet
  5. Move the sensor within 3 feet of the SmartThings Hub for initial connection; after the device is connected, it can be moved to just about anywhere in your home

 

2. Connect the sensor with the Hub

In the SmartThings Classic mobile app:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Under Things, tap Add a Thing at the bottom of your Things list
  3. The app will say Looking for devices…
  4. While the Hub searches:
    1. Depress the sensor’s Program switch for 1 second, then release
    2. The sensor’s LED will stop blinking when connected
  5. When the device is discovered, it will be listed at the top of the screen
  6. Tap the device to rename it and tap Done
  7. When finished, tap Save
  8. Tap Ok to confirm

 

3. Install the sensor

You can now close and secure the sensor’s rear cover, and then install the device on the desired door or window.

 

To reset the GoControl Door/Window Sensor

If the GoControl Door/Window Sensor was not discovered, you may need to reset, or “exclude,” the device before it can successfully connect with the SmartThings Hub. To do this in the SmartThings Classic mobile app:

  1. Tap the menu (Android) / More (iOS)
  2. Tap the Hub
  3. Tap Z-Wave Utilities
  4. Tap General Device Exclusion
  5. Depress the sensor’s Program switch for 1 second, then release
    • The sensor’s LED will flash slowly, indicating it is not on a Z-Wave network

After the app indicates that the device was successfully removed from SmartThings, follow the first set of instructions above to connect the GoControl Door/Window Sensor.
