Samsung SleepSense

Samsung makes improving the quality of your sleep simple, with SleepSense. This smart sleep-tracking device uses contactless sensors to analyze heart rate, respiratory rate, and movement while you sleep. Just slip it under your mattress, drift off to dreamland, and wake up in the morning with a summary of your sleep activity.

With SleepSense and SmartThings working together, you can automate your lights to gently brighten as you naturally wake up, or you can monitor an elderly loved one’s habits to ensure they enjoy a healthy lifestyle.

 

 

To connect the Samsung SleepSense with the SmartThings Hub

 

1. Set up a SleepSense account

Download and install the SleepSense app for iOS or Android.

Create login credentials for your SleepSense account.

 

2. Connect the device with the SleepSense app

Follow these steps to connect the SleepSense device with the SleepSense app:

  1. Sign in to the SleepSense app
  2. Connect the included USB cable and power adapter to the SleepSense device
  3. Plug the adapter into an outlet to power the SleepSense
    • The SleepSense’s indicator light will turn green if operational
  4. In the SleepSense app, tap GET STARTED
  5. Select your SleepSense device from the list
  6. Tap SET SENSOR
  7. Wait for the SleepSense to connect
  8. Once connected, wait up to 5 minutes for the device to establish baseline readings

 

3. Connect your SleepSense account with your SmartThings account

In the SleepSense app:

  1. Tap the menu in the top left corner
  2. Tap Settings
  3. Tap SmartThings
  4. Tap ACTIVATE
  5. Enter your SmartThings account credentials (email and password)
  6. Tap Log in
  7. Select a SmartThings Location from the menu
  8. Tap Authorize
  9. You will receive confirmation of successful SmartThings activation within SleepSense

 

4. Configure your SleepSense device in SmartThings

In the SmartThings app:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Under Things, tap Add a Thing at the bottom of your Things list
  3. The app will say Looking for devices…
  4. The device should be listed at the top of the screen
  5. Tap the device to rename it
  6. When finished, tap Save
  7. Tap Ok to confirm

This will complete setup of your SleepSense device with SmartThings

 

To use and edit the SleepSense device within SmartThings

In the SmartThings app:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Tap Things
  3. Select the SleepSense device

This will show you details about the device. To further configure the SleepSense, tap the gear icon

 

To remove the SleepSense from SmartThings

If the SleepSense is not performing optimally with SmartThings, you may need to remove and reconnect the device with the SmartThings Hub.

To remove the device via the SmartThings app:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Tap Things
  3. Select the SleepSense device
  4. Tap the gear icon
  5. Tap Remove
  6. Confirm removal (this cannot be undone)

 

Or, you can uninstall the Samsung SLEEPsense (Connect) SmartApp to remove all SleepSense devices:

  1. Tap Automations
  2. Tap SmartApps
  3. Tap Samsung SLEEPsense (Connect)
  4. Tap Remove
  5. Confirm removal (this cannot be undone)

 

Finally, reconnect the device by following the connection instructions above, starting from Step 4.
