Sensative Strips

The Sensative Strips door/window sensors are nearly invisible with their slim design. Use them indoors or outdoors to monitor the comings and goings of your home or trigger various automations. With up to 10 years of battery life, Sensative Strips can bring you peace of mind when it comes to the security of your home.

To connect the Sensative Strip with the SmartThings Hub

In the SmartThings mobile app:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Under Things, tap Add a Thing at the bottom of your Things list
  3. The app will say Looking for devices…
  4. While the Hub searches,
    1. Place the round magnet on the rounded end, then remove it and observe the LED blink once
    2. Repeat 3 times in 10 seconds. The device is now "awake"
    3. Pass the round magnet over the rounded end again
  5. When the device is discovered, it will be listed at the top of the screen
  6. Tap the device to rename it and tap Done
  7. When finished, tap Save
  8. Tap Ok to confirm

 

To reset the Sensative Strip

If the Sensative Strip was not discovered, you may need to reset, or “exclude,” the device before it can successfully connect with the SmartThings Hub. To do this in the SmartThings mobile app:

  1. Tap the menu (Android) / More (iOS)
  2. Tap the Hub
  3. Tap Z-Wave Utilities
  4. Tap General Device Exclusion
    1. Place the round magnet on the rounded end, then remove it and observe the LED blink once
    2. Repeat 3 times in 10 seconds. The device is now "awake"
    3. Pass the round magnet over the rounded end again

After the app indicates that the device was successfully removed from SmartThings, follow the first set of instructions above to connect the Sensative Strip.

 

To remove the Sensative Strip from SmartThings

If the Sensative Strip is connected but not operating as normal, you may need to remove the device and reconnect it with the SmartThings Hub.

To remove the device via the SmartThings app:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Tap Things
  3. Select the device
  4. Tap the gear icon
  5. Tap Remove
  6. Confirm removal
  7. When prompted, perform the exclusion procedure to remove the device from the mobile app and from the SmartThings Hub

 

To factory reset the Sensative Strip

If the Sensative Strip was not discovered, you may need to reset the device to factory default before it can successfully connect with the SmartThings Hub. Note: The factory reset does not exclude the device. To factory reset:

  1. Place the round magnet on the rounded end, then remove it and observe the LED blink once
  2. Repeat 3 times in 10 seconds. The device is now "awake"
  3. Place the round magnet on the rounded end for 10 full seconds
  4. The LED will do a long blink to indicate the device has been reset

After the long blink of the LED, follow the first set of instructions above to connect the Sensative Strip.
