Sensative Strips

The Sensative Strips door/window sensors are nearly invisible with their slim design. Use them indoors or outdoors to monitor the comings and goings of your home or trigger various automations. With up to 10 years of battery life, Sensative Strips can bring you peace of mind when it comes to the security of your home.

To connect the Sensative Strip in the SmartThings app

Note: The Sensative Strips are supported in the US and UK.

In the SmartThings app:

  1. From the Home screen, touch the Plus (+) icon and select Add device
  2. Select Sensative
  3. Choose a Hub for the device and touch Next
  4. Choose a Room for the device and touch Next
  5. While the Hub searches,
    1. Touch the supplied magnet against the rounded and wait for the LED to blink
    2. Move the magnet towards the center two (2) times
    3. On the last pass, leave the magnet on rounded edge for ten (10) seconds

To reset the Sensative Strip

If the Sensative Strip was not discovered, you may need to reset, or “exclude,” the device before it can successfully connect with the SmartThings Hub. To do this in the SmartThings mobile app:

  1. From the Home screen, touch Menu (Menu icon), and select Devices
  2. Touch the Hub and select More Options (More Options menu icon)
  3. Touch Z-Wave utilities and select Z-Wave exclusion
    1. Touch the supplied magnet against the rounded and wait for the LED to blink
    2. Move the magnet towards the center two (2) times
    3. On the last pass, leave the magnet on rounded edge for ten (10) seconds

After the app indicates that the device was successfully removed from SmartThings, follow the first set of instructions above to connect the Sensative Strip.

To connect the Sensative Strip in the SmartThings Classic app

In the SmartThings Classic mobile app:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Under Things, tap Add a Thing at the bottom of your Things list
  3. The app will say Looking for devices…
  4. While the Hub searches,
    1. Touch the supplied magnet against the rounded and wait for the LED to blink
    2. Move the magnet towards the center two (2) times
    3. On the last pass, leave the magnet on rounded edge for ten (10) seconds
  5. When the device is discovered, it will be listed at the top of the screen
  6. Tap the device to rename it and tap Done
  7. When finished, tap Save
  8. Tap Ok to confirm

 

To reset the Sensative Strip

If the Sensative Strip was not discovered, you may need to reset, or “exclude,” the device before it can successfully connect with the SmartThings Hub. To do this in the SmartThings Classic mobile app:

  1. Tap the menu (Android) / More (iOS)
  2. Tap the Hub
  3. Tap Z-Wave Utilities
  4. Tap General Device Exclusion
    1. Touch the supplied magnet against the rounded and wait for the LED to blink
    2. Move the magnet towards the center two (2) times
    3. On the last pass, leave the magnet on rounded edge for ten (10) seconds

After the app indicates that the device was successfully removed from SmartThings, follow the first set of instructions above to connect the Sensative Strip.
