Samsung SmartThings Water Leak Sensor

By placing the Samsung SmartThings Water Leak Sensor in an area of your home that is prone to water damage (such as in a basement, near a water heater, under an old pipe, or in a bathroom), you can receive an immediate alert on your smartphone at the first sign of a leak. You can also use this wireless ZigBee sensor to trigger lights or sirens to turn on and alert you when water is detected.

How to connect the Samsung SmartThings Water Leak Sensor to the SmartThings Hub

Follow the instructions below or consult the Water Leak Sensor’s Quick-Start Guide at the bottom of this article.

In the SmartThings mobile app:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Under Things, tap Add a Thing at the bottom of your Things list
  3. The app will say Looking for devices…
  4. While the Hub searches, move the Water Leak Sensor within 15 feet of the Hub and pull the REMOVE WHEN CONNECTING tab on the sensor
  5. When the device is discovered, it will be listed at the top of the screen
  6. Tap the device to rename it and tap Done
  7. When finished, tap Save
  8. Tap Ok to confirm

 

How to reset the Samsung SmartThings Water Leak Sensor

If the Samsung SmartThings Water Leak Sensor didn't connect to the Hub when you removed the pull-tab, reset and connect the device manually.

First:

  1. Remove the cover of the Water Leak Sensor

Next, put the Hub in join mode. In the SmartThings mobile app:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Under Things, tap Add a Thing at the bottom of your Things list
  3. The app will say Looking for devices…

Last, while the Hub searches:

  1. Move the Water Leak Sensor within 15 feet of Hub
  2. Hold down the Connect button on the Water Leak Sensor for 5 seconds
  3. Release the button when the LED light starts blinking red
    • If the sensor has already reset, the LED will immediately begin to double blink blue, indicating that the sensor is attempting to connect
  4. The LED will blink green 3 times when it connects to the Hub
  5. Once the app shows a device has been found, put the cover back on the Water Leak Sensor
  6. Follow the configuration steps above

 

How to remove the Water Leak Sensor from the SmartThings Hub

If the Water Leak Sensor is not performing as expected, you may need to reset the device and/or remove and reconnect the device with the SmartThings Hub.

To remove the device via the SmartThings app:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Tap Things
  3. Select the Water Leak Sensor
  4. Tap the gear icon
  5. Tap Remove
  6. Confirm removal (this cannot be undone)

Note: In order to use the Samsung Connect app to control the Samsung SmartThings Water Leak Sensor, a SmartThings Hub or Samsung Connect Home is required.

Follow the instructions below or consult the Water Leak Sensor’s Quick-Start Guide at the bottom of this article.

In the Samsung Connect mobile app:

  1. Tap the plus icon in the bottom right
  2. Android: Tap Add Device Manually
  3. Select Moisture sensor
  4. Tap Water Leak Sensor - Samsung SmartThings
  5. While the Hub searches, move the Water Leak Sensor within 15 feet of the Hub and pull the REMOVE WHEN CONNECTING tab on the sensor
  6. When the device is discovered, a message will appear that the sensor was successfully connected to your SmartThings Hub
  7. Tap Edit to rename the device
  8. When finished, tap Done
  9. Tap Done again to confirm

 

How to reset the Samsung SmartThings Water Leak Sensor

  3. Tap Edit
  4. Tap the red minus icon next to the Water Leak Sensor
