Iris Motion Sensor

The Iris Motion Sensor (690402) can help keep an eye on your smart home. Along with SmartThings, this ZigBee motion sensor can send notifications when there is unexpected motion and can trigger other SmartThings devices, like lights, cameras, and more.

To connect the Iris Motion Sensor with the SmartThings Hub

In the SmartThings mobile app:

  1. From the Dashboard, tap Add device
  2. Android: Tap Add Device Manually
  3. Select Motion sensor
  4. Tap Iris
  5. If you have more than one SmartThings Hub connected, select the Location you would like to add the device to, then tap Done
  6. While the Hub searches, remove the battery tab labeled “Remove to Pair”
  7. When the device is discovered, a message will appear that the device was successfully connected to your SmartThings Hub
  8. Tap Edit to rename the device
  9. When finished, tap Done
  10. Tap Done again to confirm

 

To reset the Iris Motion Sensor

If the Iris Motion Sensor is not performing as expected, you may need to reset the device and/or remove and reconnect the device with the SmartThings Hub.

To remove the device via the SmartThings app:

  1. From the Dashboard, tap on the Devices tab
  2. Tap the three dots in the top right
  3. Tap Edit
  4. Tap the red minus icon (-) next to the name of the device
  5. Confirm removal (this cannot be undone)

 

To physically reset the device:

  1. Remove the battery
  2. Press and hold the reset button while reinserting the battery

 

Once reset, the Iris Motion Sensor is ready to be connected with the SmartThings Hub. Follow the first set of instructions above to connect the Iris Motion Sensor. When the Hub is searching, the device should be automatically discovered within a couple of minutes.

 

To connect the Iris Motion Sensor in the SmartThings Classic app

In the SmartThings Classic app:

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Under Things, tap Add a Thing at the bottom of your Things list
  3. The app will say, Looking for devices…
  4. While the Hub searches, remove the battery tab labeled “Remove to Pair”
  5. When the device is discovered, it will be listed at the top of the screen
  6. Tap the device to rename it and tap Done
  7. When finished, tap Save
  8. Tap OK to confirm

 

To reset the Iris Motion Sensor

If the Iris Motion Sensor is not performing as expected, you may need to reset the device and/or remove and reconnect the device with the SmartThings Hub.

  4. Tap the gear icon
  5. Tap Remove
  6. Confirm removal (this cannot be undone)

  1. Remove the battery
  2. Press and hold the reset button while reinserting the battery

 

Once reset, the Iris Motion Sensor is ready to be connected with the SmartThings Hub. Follow the first set of instructions above to connect the Iris Motion Sensor. When the Hub is searching, the device should be automatically discovered within a couple of minutes.
