Springs Window Fashions Motorized Window Treatments

With the power of SmartThings, your motorized window treatments can be conveniently controlled remotely using your smartphone. They can also be pre-programmed to automatically raise and lower based on the time of day - a great way to save on energy costs and keep your home secure!

The following models can be connected to the SmartThings Hub:

  • RSZ1
  • CSZ1

  • SmartThings app
  • SmartThings Classic app

Connect the Springs Window Fashions Motorized Window Treatment with the SmartThings Hub

Note: SmartThings cannot add a window treatment if it is already associated with a remote.

1. Disassociate a window treatment and a remote:

  1. On the window treatment, press and hold the programming button for 7 seconds until the shade jogs (moves up and down a short distance)
  2. On the remote, press and hold the programming button for 10-15 seconds until the LEDs stop flashing

 

2. Connect the window treatment to SmartThings:

  1. From the Dashboard, tap Add device
  2. Android: Tap Add Device Manually
  3. Select Window treatment
  4. Tap Springs Window Fashions
  5. If you have more than one SmartThings Hub connected, select the Hub you would like to add the device to, then tap Done
  6. On the window treatment, press and hold the program button for 3 seconds until the LED flashes green
  7. When the device is discovered, a message will appear that the device was successfully connected to your SmartThings Hub
  8. Tap Edit to rename the device
  9. When finished, tap Done
  10. Tap Done again to confirm

 

3. Connect the remote to SmartThings:

Note: The remote will not be added as a standalone device in the SmartThings app.

  1. From the Dashboard, tap Add device
  2. Android: Tap Add Device Manually
  3. Select Window treatment
  4. Tap Springs Window Fashions
  5. If you have more than one SmartThings Hub connected, select the Hub you would like to add the device to, then tap Done
  6. On the remote, press and hold the programming button for 3 seconds until the LED flashes green
  7. When the device is discovered, a message will appear that the device was successfully connected to your SmartThings Hub
  8. Tap Done
  9. Tap Done again to confirm

 

4. Associate the remote with the window treatment again:

  1. On the remote, press and hold the programming button until the LED flashes green
  2. On the window treatment, press and hold the programming button until the LED begins flashing green
  3. Both devices LEDs will turn solid green to indicate a successful association

That's it! You can now begin controlling your Window Treatment using the SmartThings app and through SmartThings Automations.

Note: If the app says that your Springs Window Fashions Motorized Window Treatment is offline, it may still be controllable. This is an issue that we are actively looking into.

 

To reset the Springs Window Fashions Motorized Window Treatment

If the Springs Window Fashions Motorized Window Treatment was not discovered, you may need to reset, or “exclude,” the device before it can successfully connect with the SmartThings Hub. To do this in the SmartThings app:

  1. From the Dashboard, tap on the Devices tab
  2. Tap the Hub
  3. Tap the three dots in the top right
  4. Tap Z-Wave exclusion
  5. When prompted, on the window treatment, press and hold the program button for 3 seconds until the LED flashes green
  6. The LED will turn red once the device has excluded

Next, exclude the remote:

  1. From the Dashboard, tap on the Devices tab
  2. Tap the Hub
  3. Tap the three dots in the top right
  4. Tap Z-Wave exclusion
  5. When prompted, on the remote, press and hold the program button for 3 seconds until the LED flashes green
  6. The LED will turn red once the device has excluded

After the app indicates that the device was successfully removed from SmartThings, follow the first set of instructions above to connect the Springs Window Fashions Motorized Window Treatment.

 

To remove the Springs Window Fashions Motorized Window Treatment

If the Springs Window Fashions Motorized Window Treatment is connected but not operating as normal, you may need to remove the device and reconnect it with the SmartThings Hub.

To remove the device via the SmartThings app:

  1. From the Dashboard, tap on the Devices tab
  2. Tap the three dots in the top right
  3. Tap Edit
  4. Tap the red minus icon (-) next to the name of the device
  5. Confirm removal (this cannot be undone)
  6. When prompted, perform the exclusion procedure to remove the device from the mobile app and from the SmartThings Hub

Connect the Springs Window Fashions Motorized Window Treatment with the SmartThings Hub

Note: SmartThings cannot add a window treatment if it is already associated with a remote.

  3. The app will say Looking for devices…
  4. On the window treatment, press and hold the program button for 3 seconds until the LED flashes green
  5. When the device is discovered, it will be listed at the top of the screen
  6. Tap the device to rename it and tap Done
  7. When finished, tap Save
  8. Tap Ok to confirm

 

3. Connect the remote to SmartThings:

Note: The remote will not be added as a standalone device in the SmartThings app.

  1. Tap My Home
  2. Under Things, tap Add a Thing at the bottom of your Things list
  3. The app will say Looking for devices…
  4. On the remote, press and hold the programming button for 3 seconds until the LED flashes green
  5. When the device is discovered, a message will appear that the device was successfully connected to your SmartThings Hub
  6. When finished, tap Save

  2. On the window treatment, press and hold the programming button until the LED begins flashing green
  3. Both devices LEDs will turn solid green to indicate a successful association

That's it! You can now begin controlling your Window Treatment using the SmartThings Classic app and through SmartThings Classic Routines.

Note: If the app says that your Springs Window Fashions Motorized Window Treatment is offline, it may still be controllable. This is an issue that we are actively looking into.

  1. Tap the menu (Android) / More (iOS)
