Use the SmartThings app to connect and control your Samsung TVs, appliances, wearables, and compatible smart devices.

The SmartThings Home Screen
The Home Screen is the landing page for the SmartThings app. With the Home Screen, you can quickly access and control your favorite Devices, Scenes, Rooms, and SmartApps.
To edit the layout of your Home Screen, follow these steps:
- Tap the More Options (⋮) in the top right corner
- Select Edit
- Drag the arrow key to control the order of the Home Screen icons
- Tap a section to hide it from the Home Screen
To control which Devices, Scenes, or Device Groups show on the Home Screen, tap and hold the icon and select Hide.
Navigating the SmartThings App
While you can control most of your devices, SmartApps, and Scenes straight from the Home Screen, you can also select the Menu (☰) to navigate directly to the following sections:
- Rooms lets you organize your devices into individual rooms so you can better manage the layout of your smart home
- Devices is where you can control, edit, or delete any devices you have added to SmartThings
- Scenes allow you to send different commands to different devices at the same time
- Automations automatically control your devices or Scenes whenever a particular action happens
- SmartApps are pre-configured services that configure your devices for a wide range of purposes (Device monitoring, lock management, Smart energy, etc.)
- Members lets you view and control who is shared to your Location
- History displays the recent events for you Devices, Scenes, Automations and anything else that runs in the SmartThings app going back seven (7) days.
Control Settings in the SmartThings app
Control more advanced options of the SmartThings app by accessing the settings menu. These include adding your phone as a mobile presence device, control of notifications, enabling app features, and more.
To access the settings menu:
- From the Home Screen, select the Menu (☰)
- Tap the Gear (⚙)
Mobile Presence in SmartThings
Adding your phone as a mobile presence provides SmartThings the ability to know when you come and go using the same location services that your smartphone or cellular-connected tablet use every day.
When you first sign in to the SmartThings app, the app will ask permission for SmartThings to use these location services.
To manually enable or disable your mobile presence in SmartThings follow these steps:
- From the Home Screen, select the Menu (☰)
- Tap the Gear (⚙)
- Toggle the switch next to Get your location from this phone

Linked Services in the SmartThings App
When adding cloud-based devices to SmartThings you will have to connect the manufacturer’s service to the SmartThings app.
You can view all of the services you have added to SmartThings, by selecting the Menu (☰), tapping the Gear (⚙), and choosing Linked Services.
In the event that you are no longer using or need to reset a cloud service, you may need to remove a Linked Service. Removing a Linked Service will also remove any devices or Automations in SmartThings that used that service.
To remove a Linked Service from the SmartThings app, follow these steps:
- From the Home Screen, select the Menu (☰)
- Tap the Gear (⚙) and choose Linked Services
- Choose More Options (⋮) and select Delete
- Tap Minus (-) next to the service
- Select Delete to confirm
