- Choose Manage locations ⚙
- Select Add (+) and Add new location
- Add details about your Location and Tap Done
Remove a Location

- Choose Remove location and tap Remove to confirm
Geolocations

- Note: The geofence determined whether you and your shared members have arrived (within the geofence) or left (outside the geofence)
Select Save to confirm
Rooms
Rooms are the best way to group devices in the SmartThings app. You can use Rooms to separate your devices into distinct areas and more easily organize large lists of connected devices.
You can scroll through your rooms by swiping left or right on the Devices tab.
Anytime you add a new device, you will be prompted to Select a Room or Add a new Room.
You can also manually add a Room with these steps:
- From the Devices tab, choose the Room Name at the top
- Select Manage rooms and tap Add (+)
- Select a name for your Room or tap Custom to create your own
- Select your wallpaper and choose Save
- Tap Save
To update an existing Room with a new name, wallpaper, or devices follow these steps:
- From the Devices tab, choose the Room Name at the top
- Select Manage rooms and choose the desired room
- Select the Room Name or Wallpaper to edit either
- Choose Remove Room to delete a room
Removing a Room in the SmartThings app will not delete the devices associated with that Room.
To remove Rooms in SmartThings, follow these steps:
- From the Devices tab, choose More options (⋮) and select Manage rooms
- Tap More options (⋮) and choose Edit
- Select the Rooms to remove and choose Delete
- Choose which Room the devices will be moved to and select Delete to confirm
Location Modes
Location Modes provide finite control over when your Routines can and cannot run. For example, you can have your Routine only run if your Location Mode is set to Away, Home, or Night.
You can either change your Location mode with Routines or manually using the following steps.
- Select the Location Name at the top left
- Choose Manage locations ⚙ and select the Location to edit
- Select Location mode
- Tap the mode you want to change to
- You can rename modes by selecting More Options (⋮) and Edit name
Linking Places
Linked Places let you connect multiple Geolocations so you can trigger Routines whenever someone arrives or leaves.
Only users and shared members with Galaxy devices can utilize linked places.
To add a linked place, follow these steps:
- Select the Location Name at the top left
- Choose Manage locations ⚙ and select the Location to edit
- Select Linked places and tap Add (+)
- Name your new linked place and set up its geofence
- Tap Save
- Repeat these steps to add up to three linked places
You will now be able to create member location Routines using your linked places.
